Why IU:  Looking at objective measures for med-peds programs, IU has many desirable qualities- HUGE med-peds presence, diverse training locations (urban county hospital, university hospital, private hospital, VA hospital, and a free-standing children’s hospital!), and the ability to pursue just about any passion in medicine that one’s heart could desire. What sold IU, though, was the people (I know every program says this, so here is some evidence). During my interview, it was easy to see that IU Med-Peds is a group of intelligent, humble, fun, and -- most importantly -- kind humans. Since I have been here, that initial impression could not be more true. From the daily visits from upperclassmen (and our PD!) during our first week of residency, the eagerness of my med-peds superiors to take me under their wing in continuity clinic, to the clinical skills of the med-peds senior residents and attendings with whom I’ve already worked, my experiences have only reinforced that IU is a phenomenal place to train for med-peds.
