Why IU: I am so happy I matched at IU for several reasons. First, of course, is the people. The Med-Peds residents I met during medical school were genuine, hardworking, and kind. And that only became more obvious as I met more of them throughout interview season. Second, the diversity of clinical training sites was very important to me as I was looking at different programs. As IU Med-Peds residents, we rotate at several different hospitals including the VA, the county safety net hospital, and tertiary and quaternary referral centers. The catchment area of these hospitals is massive — the entire state of Indiana — so we have the opportunity to see and manage a wide variety of pathology. Lastly, Indianapolis is a fun place to live! It is a younger, growing city with plenty of fun things to do within the city, and plenty of nature to explore within just a short drive. I am so glad to be staying here at IU for residency!
