Bio

Dr. Roberto J. Bernardo is the Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Bernardo specializes in pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular physiology.

After receiving his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (Lima, Peru), Dr. Bernardo completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Arizona. He then completed two fellowships: the first in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Oklahoma, and the second in Pulmonary Vascular Disease at Stanford University School of Medicine. He received his Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Bernardo’s research interests are on pulmonary hypertension, right ventricular physiology and healthcare disparities in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Bernardo is a strong advocate for health equities for patients with pulmonary vascular disease.
