Bio

Dr. Nian Wang has been a member of the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences faculty since Oct. 2020. He received his Ph.D. degree at Chinese Academy of Sciences. Before he joined IU, he worked at Duke University, first as a research associate and then as an assistant professor at the Center for In Vivo Microscopy (CIVM). Dr. Wang’s interests include developing novel MRI acquisition and reconstruction methods for various brain diseases and musculoskeletal disorders.

    1. Develop compressed sensing (CS) technique to reduce acquisition time for 3D diffusion MRI.

    2. Achieve the highest spatial resolution (25 µm isotropic) of diffusion MRI in Rodents.

    3. Probe tissue microstructure using multi-shell and high b value diffusion MRI acquisition.

    4. Apply novel MRI technologies to various brain diseases, including Autism spectrum disorder, and multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, etc.

    5. Investigate 3D collagen fiber network in cartilage, ligament, meniscus, etc.
