James B. Wood, MD, MSCI, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine in the Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Global Health and Pediatric & Adolescent Clinical Effectiveness Research divisions. He completed his medical school training at Georgetown University School of Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Wood takes care of patients at Riley Hospital for Children with a variety of infectious diseases, including pneumonia, bone and joint infections, sepsis and infections in immunodeficient patients. 

Dr. Wood's research is focused on the immune response, epidemiology and clinical care of children with Staphylococcus aureus infections, including MRSA. He is interested in improving clinical care of patients with bone and join infections as well as the development and implementation of novel diagnostic, therapeutic and vaccine targets. He is also interested in the pathogenesis and treatment of Kawaski Disease.
