Mentoring

Mentoring matters for our faculty, our departments and our institution.

In academic medicine, mentoring attends to two dimensions: career-advancement interventions and social-psychological support. Mentoring is shown to influence career success, satisfaction and productivity, thus enhancing the institution’s investment, retention rates and reputation. It can mean the difference between success and failure for early career faculty, who are searching for guidance, a sense of belonging and confidence in their academic journey.

Explore the Mentoring Portal

The goal of this centralized mentoring resource is to create an online “portal” to support faculty mentoring programs. The toolkit and resources are intended to facilitate mentoring practices and programs. Through this effort, FAPD endorses the value of mentoring for sustaining a vital faculty and enhancing the academic enterprise of the institution.
