Andrology/Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine Fellowship

The Andrology/Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine Fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Urology is the first training program in andrology/sexual medicine in Indiana, and one of only 19 in the United States. The program trains fellows to provide specialized care in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of issues like erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, male infertility and more.

One fellow is matched each year for this one-year program. Applicants will use the American Urological Association match process

Curriculum

Fellows will become experts in the evaluation, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of male infertility and sexual dysfunctions. Fellows rotate with fellowship director Helen Bernie, DO, MPH, and other staff urologists. 

  • Learn to perform a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan for male factor infertility
  • Learn and develop the principles of urological microsurgery
  • Evaluate and treat erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease, and male sexual dysfunctions
  • Manage complicated and difficult urological prosthetic cases
  • Evaluate and treat post-prostatectomy penile restoration and rehabilitation, orgasmic dysfunctions, chronic scrotal pain
  • Become an expert in the advanced comprehensive men's health evaluation

Fellows will gain important exposure to prosthetic surgery as well as microsurgical techniques, penile duplex doppler ultrasounds and the tools and skills necessary to manage and treat a variety of sexual dysfunctions and reproductive andrology.

There is a strong expectation for fellows to produce meaningful research at IU School of Medicine. Fellows are exposed to a wide variety of scientific research opportunities to contribute to the field of urology and improve patient care.
