Conferences

Educational conferences serve as an important supplement to the clinical and surgical experiences ophthalmology residents receive at IU School of Medicine. These programs take place via Zoom or in the Glick Eye Institute Spitzberg Conference Hall, when able.

Case Conference

From August to June, Case Conferences occur on the 2nd through 4th Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 am. Residents present interesting cases with oversight from a faculty mentor, and an interactive and friendly discussion between residents and faculty follows each case.

Fluorescein Angiography Conference

Fluorescein angiography conference occurs once per month. Our retina faculty lead residents through case-based discussions while reviewing retinal images, with a focus on FAs.

Grand Rounds

From August to June, Ophthalmology Grand Rounds are held on the first Wednesdays of each month from 7:30-8:30 am. Typical programs include: renowned guest speakers; “Science of disease” talks combining expertise of our own clinical and research faculty; and other highly regarded faculty, with topics ranging from interdisciplinary medical talks to diversity and inclusion to wellness.

Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting

All residents are excused from clinical and surgical duties to attend the annual IAO meeting. This meeting brings together ophthalmologists from throughout the state of Indiana for scientific talks and networking.

Journal Club

Subspecialty journal clubs (e.g. pediatric ophthalmology, glaucoma, cornea) are held approximately once per month, with active participation from the faculty of each subspecialty section.
