Neurology Fellowship Programs

The Department of Neurology offers four accredited fellowship programs: Clinical Neurophysiology, Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry, Neuro-ophthalmology and Vascular Neurology. Fellows experience an in-depth training environment alongside faculty experts in their specialties.

Neurology fellowship leadership

Clinical Neurophysiology

The one-year Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship program fills three positions each year. Two of these positions focus on EEG and epilepsy, and one fellowship position focuses on EMG and neuromuscular disorders.

Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship

Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry

The Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry Fellowship program accepts two fellows each year and offers broad exposure to a variety of conditions seen in outpatient behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry clinics.

Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry Fellowship


Fellows in the neuro-ophthalmology program are trained to bridge the knowledge and clinical care gap between the specialties of neurology and ophthalmology. The subspecialty encompasses vision disorders involving the brain and cranial nerves.

Neuro-ophthalmology Fellowship

Vascular Neurology

This one year, ACGME-accredited program provides advanced training in the contemporary care of all vascular neurological conditions, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.

Training Environment

Consistent with national trends, about 80 percent of IU School of Medicine neurology residency graduates pursue fellowship training and have successfully secured post-residency training at Indiana University School of Medicine and other well-respected institutions throughout the United States.

Clinical Training

In support of the IU School of Medicine’s tripartite mission, faculty neurologists at IU School of Medicine are deeply involved in training the next generation of physicians and investigators in neurological care and research. All neurology fellows train at IU School of Medicine clinical partner sites in Indianapolis.
