Graduates will acquire the following competencies related to health equity, advocacy and leadership.

Health Equity, Advocacy and Leadership 1

Develop a critical awareness of the historical, cultural, and social impact systems of inequity have on marginalized communities, the health system, and health policy. Illustrate approaches to mitigate barriers to health equity for marginalized, oppressed, and vulnerable patient populations.

Health Equity, Advocacy and Leadership 2

Demonstrate an awareness of, and responsiveness to, cultural identities including gender, age, culture, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, native language, or role, and develop relationships with all individuals based on compassion, honesty, and respect.

Health Equity, Advocacy and Leadership 3

Demonstrate advocacy and leadership skills by providing patient education, resources, or support services based on identified patient needs to promote optimal health and decrease barriers to healthcare.
