First-year orientation is an introduction to IU School
of Medicine. It is held the week prior to the start of classes in August.
Optional activities are available all week leading up to the required
Orientation program on Tuesday through Friday of Orientation Week.
Orientation Week
A full week of activities is planned for first-year medical students to welcome them to IU School of Medicine and encourage them to meet their classmates before the academic year begins. Activities include wellness activities, the Common Read experience and a service project sponsored by the Medical Student Service-Learning Group. All students are invited to attend.
Equipment Requirements for First-Year Medical Students
The required supplies for the first year of medical school include medical instruments, a laptop computer, textbooks and some other basic medical supplies.
