Interstitial Lung Disease

Research on interstitial lung disease (ILD) at Indiana University School of Medicine is led by Ryan Boente, MD, director of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Care Center Network site at IU School of Medicine. Dr. Boente's research focuses on quality improvement and rural interstitial lung disease (ILD) care. In a recent study, Dr. Boente and his team showed that there are differences in patient outcomes across the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Care Center Network sites. The next phase of this research is to test whether certain practice patterns are associated with improved outcomes so they can improve delivery of care across the network.

Dr. Boente is working to develop a rural-telehealth ILD clinic to help improve access to care for those with ILD living in rural communities with limited access to expert centers.
