Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Advanced Lipid Clinic

The Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Advanced Lipid Clinic provides a multidisciplinary approach to heart disease and lipidology. With the assistance of a clinical pharmacist, a cardiovascular genetic counselor, and a board-certified lipidologist, patients receive specialized care focused on their unique condition. In the appropriate clinical cases, genetic testing is used to confirm diagnoses, adjust treatments, and provide family screening. The clinic also partners with colleagues in Pediatric Cardiology to provide a continuum of care for our younger patients.

Lipidology is the study of the cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. With specialized training and certification through the American Board of Clinical Lipidology, the clinical team has the expertise to treat patients across the spectrum of lipid disorders.

Familial Hypercholesterolemia, or FH, is an inherited genetic disorder affecting how the body handles cholesterol. Individuals with FH have very high LDL-cholesterol levels and are at risk for premature heart attack and stroke. The clinical team is the only team in the state which partners with the FH Foundation to enroll patients in their CASCADE registry to help advance knowledge in this field.
