Volunteer

The work of the IU Student Outreach Clinic relies on the generosity and dedication of volunteers. First- through- fourth-year medical students, faculty, and other members of the University and/or Indianapolis community are encouraged to volunteer.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities

Medical Students

All current IU School of Medicine medical students are encouraged to volunteer as part of the IU Student Outreach Clinic. Medical student responsibilities range from triage and observations, to patient charting and conducting physical exams alongside a faculty volunteer. In addition to gaining valuable real-world experience, there are also opportunities for students to serve in leadership and managerial roles within the clinic. Faculty

Faculty volunteers are integral to the overall success of the clinic. They provide medical services to each patient registered at the clinic, and review and co-sign each visit chart before each patient leaves. Through a partnership with the Division of Continuing Medical Education, volunteer faculty are now available to receive credit. Contact the IU student outreach clinic volunteer chair to volunteer.

University Staff and Community

Individuals with an idea for educational materials, community outreach or organization of supplies for the clinic are encouraged to contact the the outreach clinic team.
