Bio
Dr. Fan currently serves as the Assistant Program Director of the Breast Surgery Fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine and the IU Health West Hospital Breast Director.
Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Fan practiced at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. Dr. Fan strives to empower patients in their care through education and communication so that they can share in the decision-making during their breast cancer treatment.
Dr. Fan’s research interests are in breast cancer and breast diseases and the efforts to tailor and de-escalate therapy when possible. She has served as a principal investigator or co-investigator to more than 15 peer reviewed publications.
Dr. Fan received her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center/TCOM and completed her general surgery residency at OhioHealth/OUCOM in Columbus, Ohio. She is a board-certified general surgeon and completed a breast surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Fan is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. She currently serves on several committees including the ASBS Fellowship Program Directors committee, ASBS Selected Readings committee, ASBS Young Surgeons Working Group committee, ACOS Awards committee, ACOS In-Service Exam committee, and the ACOS Scientific Exhibits and Poster Sessions committee.
