Bio

Dr. Rivera completed his medical school training at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.  He then completed his Urology residency training at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he was awarded a Mayo Clinic Scholar.  Dr. Rivera then completed the prestigious endourology/ESWL fellowship at The Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in 2017.  He returned to Mayo in 2017 as an Assistant professor in Urology where he specialized in complex kidney stone and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) surgery including percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP).  While on faculty at Mayo, Dr. Rivera was a co-investigator involved with the O'Brien Urology Research Center investigating stone precursor lesions.  Dr. Rivera's research interest include minimally invasive BPH techniques utilizing laser technology and renal stone disease.
