Bio
Samer Abu Sultaneh joined the IU School of Medicine faculty in 2012. Focusing on service to his patients, the university and the department, he serves as chair of the unplanned extubation committee, co-chair of the IUSM maintenance of certification QI portfolio committee and associate fellowship director in the department of pediatric critical care.
Given his passion for safe, effective and efficient care, Dr. Abu Sultaneh has a special interest in the standardizing of care and long-term outcome of mechanically ventialated patients. His efforts include investigating and standardizing the extubation readiness evaluation, decreasing the duration of mechanical ventilation and mentoring of fellows to continue work in this area.
Dr. Abu Sultaneh is also very intereseted in the area of community outreach education, being a co-leader of the Pediatric Community Outreach Mobile Education (PCOME) initiative. The aim of PCOME is to improve the quality of patient care pre-transport to Riley Hospital for Children.
A native of Jordan, Dr. Abu Sultaneh participates in Riley's international heart mission which aims to conduct open heart surgeries for children with complex heart disease.
