Bio

After graduating from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Microbiology, Dr. Turner entered the Physician-Scientist Training Program at The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he earned his M.D. and Ph.D. He then continued his training at the University of Cincinnati where he completed his medical internship and two years of dermatology residency, after which he transferred to the Department of Dermatology at Indiana University where he completed his dermatology residency and a dermatology research fellowship. Dr. Turner joined the faculty in 2012 as an Assistant Professor. As a physician, Dr. Turner primarily  cares for patients at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center. Dr. Turner is also a scientist whose research efforts are focused on better understanding how and why atopic dermatitis (i.e. atopic eczema) develops and identifying ways to improve treatment for this disease. 

Dr. Turner is board-certified in dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Turner is a general dermatologist with a special interest in caring for patients with atopic dermatitis.

  • Research

    Atopic Dermatitis ( such as atopic eczema) is a common inflammatory skin disease that affects millions of children and adults. The disease is characterized by red, scaly skin lesions and an intense itch as well as secondary skin infections and an association with asthma and other allergic disorders. 

    As a trained physician and scientist, Dr. Turner is involved with clinical and basic scientific research studies that are designed to better understand how and why atopic dermatitis develops. The ultimate goal of his research is to identify new and improved ways of treating this and other inflammatory diseases.
