Bio

Dr. John C. Christenson is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Disease and Global Health. He completed his medical studies and pediatric residency at the University of Puerto Rico and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Christenson is board-certified in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and has a Certificate of Knowledge in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers’ Health from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and a Certificate of Knowledge in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine. Dr. Christenson's work in travel medicine is nationally recognized: He has presented at national and international conferences on travel medicine in children and has written review articles on travel medicine for major infectious disease, pediatric and travel medicine journals. Dr. Christenson has for many years been involved in international educational projects in Central America and West Africa. In addition to travel and geographic medicine, his clinical interests are in medical education, clinical infectious diseases, histoplasmosis, hospital epidemiology, and immunizations.
