Dr. Jeremy L. Herrmann is Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Section of Congenital Cardiac Surgery at IU School of Medicine. His clinical interests include the full age range of congenital heart disease including heart transplantation and chest wall disorders. He currently serves as Surgical Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program at IU Health, and his hospital affiliations include Riley Hospital for Children and Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Herrmann is a native of Indiana. He received his undergraduate degree from Wabash College then earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at IUSM during which time he completed an NIH-sponsored Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (F32) Fellowship focusing on the paracrine effects of mesenchymal stem cells and their potential cardioprotective effects against ischemia/reperfusion injury in the heart. Following residency, he completed his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and his congenital cardiac surgery fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He then returned to Indiana University as a faculty member.

    Dr. Herrmann leads the Riley CV Surgery clinical outcomes research program focusing on early-to-late outcomes for a wide variety of diagnoses and procedures. Special interests include congenital aortic stenosis, the Ross procedure, single ventricle palliation, and pulmonary conduits.
