Taha Z. Shipchandler, MD, FACS, is the Division Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. Having joined IU School of Medicine faculty in 2010 after training at Johns Hopkins Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Shipchandler is a nationally recognized expert in treating nasal breathing problems, facial paralysis, skin cancers, facial reconstruction, facial trauma, facial and nasal abnormalities, scars, ear anomalies and general ENT disorders.

Dr. Shipchandler also leads the department’s Facial Cosmetic Center, where he and his team provide a comprehensive approach to improving the appearance of individuals with cosmetic needs. He performs more than 300 nose operations annually and sees patients for a variety of skincare concerns.

Dr. Shipchandler currently spearheads the training of IU School of Medicine otolaryngology surgical residents in his role as Residency Program Director. He enjoys teaching residents and medical students, and he has been honored with the Faculty Teacher of the Year Award.

Dr. Shipchandler participates in numerous medical mission trips for cleft lip and palate and is involved in various research endeavors related to facial nerve regeneration, facial trauma and stem cell/skin regeneration. He has presented at numerous national meetings, appears in a variety of media for his medical expertise and was recognized as a Top Doc in Indianapolis Monthly magazine.
